Spring Cleaning Basics

Once the winter season has left, spring finds its way and you'll find the need to do some spring cleaning.

After all, it is when the wind is cool, and all the plants grow and bloom. This will inspire you to stay outdoors for long hours compared to being culled inside the house in the winter. While you enjoy the spring breeze, you surely cannot afford breathing in dusty air inside the home if you don't do spring cleaning.

Spring cleaning can be a fun and rewarding time. After all, seeing your home organized and tidy can help lift your mood. However, before you embark on spring cleaning, make sure you have an end in mind and a general plan.

Your Floor Plan

Before you start spring cleaning, wear old clothes that you can afford getting soiled. Avoid loose clothes that can snag against door knobs or corners, or can catch small items that can break.

Wear kneepads if you feel that you will have to be on your knees to reach under the floor and under furniture. This will help protect your knees from scratches, and can even help remove the strain on your knees. If you feel pain, you may feel unwilling to continue cleaning.

Group all the implements that you need to use for spring cleaning. This will help ensure that you will not encounter interruptions as you clean. Put all these implements in a box or a bucket, so that as you move to a different room, you bring along all the necessary implements to be able to completely clean a room out.

Prepare garbage bags that will house all the trash that you will collect as you move along cleaning. Allocate another garbage bag for old items in the home that you do not intend to keep anymore. It is important that any room you leave when you clean is fully cleaned out.

Spring cleaning can be a chore if it takes too long. As such, playing some songs on the radio can help encourage you and keep you from getting bored. Look for a place in the house where you intend to start, and move in one direction when you vacuum. That way, you are certain that you have covered all floor space and cleaned out everything.

Clear big furniture from the floor so that you are able to finish the vacuuming and dusting without interruption. It is easier to remove the obstacles to a particular area before cleaning it. This will make cleaning much faster.

Once you've finished cleaning a particular room, put all the furniture back to their proper area. You will finally see the benefits of your spring cleaning, seeing your home as fresh and clean as the beautiful spring gardens outdoors.
